8 Reasons Why Going on a Spiritual Quest Will Change your Life

Before we embark on a spiritual quest how about we look at what it means to be spiritual to make sure we are all on the same page.

Depending on what resource you use, the answer will come up pretty much the same. To sum it up in layman’s terms, to be spiritual means this: "It’s a value, idea, passion or purpose that stirs and awakens your soul or spirit. Spirituality can include, but is not limited to, religious beliefs and it’s immaterial."

It does not necessarily mean you go to Church every Sunday or pray daily. There’s a difference, a big difference, between being spiritual and being religious, though the two are often considered one in the same.

When you meet someone and they claim to be spiritual, it can simply mean that they are open minded and open hearted enough to appreciate and be able to connect with things or people on a soul level.

Anyone and everyone can be spiritual. I think once people realize that it’s not religion based, more of them will openly admit that they are spiritual.

It’s sad that so many people still hide their beliefs for fear of being laughed at or mocked. We are who we are and we should never hide that and never let our inhibitions stop us from doing what we want.

Going on a spiritual quest isn’t for everyone but if you are open minded enough to receive these tips, you will be amazed at the results you will get.

Here are 8 reasons you might consider to get you started on your spiritual journey.

1. True appreciation of the beauty around you.

I’ve listed this as number one because it truly is top of the list. When you awaken all 5 senses to the things around you, the trees, the sky, the sounds of the birds, the air you breathe, the wetness of the rain/snow and everything else external you will be able to experience the true beauty of the world around you.

Once you have discovered that beauty, you will appreciate things more and have more respect for them too

2. A rebirthing, if you will.

Imagine being a child. No hate, no anger, no jealousy, greed or racism. In awe of all the things this new life has to offer you and taking it all in in awe. Beautiful.

3. R-E-S-P-E-C-T.

Now we all know this is something that is earned, deserved and, unfortunately, quite often abused. When you can learn to respect the outer world and people, you will gain more respect. Others will see you in a different light.

4. Just let it go.

We get so wrapped up in the stresses of society, work, family, school, etc. that we neglect to realize most of the stress we go through is really just temporary.

When we disconnect from stressful situations and reconnect with ourselves, or nature, you will feel much more liberated and at peace.

5. Changing the way we look at things.

It’s sad that most of society is attached to their belongings. We are defined by our stuff. The big TV, the fancy car, upgraded stereo system.

When we realize that these are all just "things" that not only cost too much money but burden us with debt, we can then see that life is much simpler without the fancy stuff.

6. Finding your true purpose.

When was the last time you sat in stillness, in total quiet and reflected on your life and what it means?

Detach from everything and connect with your soul. Listen to your heart. Think about some things that make your heart sing. That’s passion and purpose. Follow it.

7. Facing fears and rising to the challenge.

We are given so many opportunities to do or try new things. Most of these things we truly secretly have a desire to do, but fear stops us dead in our tracks and we never follow through.

When we embark on a spiritual quest we are flicking fear away, taking the bull by the horns and fulfilling our desires. When we do that, the euphoria we will feel is mind blowing.

8. Jumping out of the box.

Too many of us stay in our comfort zone because it’s, well, comfortable.

We have plans, dreams and goals but trying to achieve them, not only takes a lot of work but may result in failure.

So we stay in our box, all comfy and cozy, and just keep dreaming. When we decide to take a spiritual path, we are tearing off the lid of the box and opening our minds to an exciting new world.

The spiritual world is one of unlimited opportunities and a great freedom, a liberation if you will, which introduces us to a whole new existence. Following our ideas, plans and desires and listening to our hearts and souls can really only be good for us. And life changing in a colorful, wonderful way.
