As announced a few days ago, we are showing you some old videos Steven Aitchinson shot to answer the most frequently asked questions about guided meditations. This post will answer some most common questions about the safety of guided meditations.
You can find a post answeing basic questions here, and one covering technical questions here - and also, please sing up on our Youtube channel - you can expect some goodies there - as well as check out the older videos.
In this post, Steven will cover the following questions concerning guided meditations and their safety:
- Can anybody use guided meditation?
- Is guided meditation safe?
- Is it (guided meditation) safe for children?
- Can anything negative happen to me?
- Will I be hypnotised?
- Can I listen to several albums?
First, can anybody use guided meditation?
Question for today is - Can anybody use guided meditations?
In a word - YES! Anybody can use guided meditations without any ill effects. It's been documented that there's no side effects to guided meditation at all.
However we don't recommend that children under the age of five years old listen to guided meditation without parental guidance.
Anybody over the age five and above can use guided meditations. Obviously we don't recommend listening to whilst driving, or if you're going to be operating heavy machienery after it.
So take some time to prepaire for each guided meditation. Give yourself maybe abou an hour... It's twenty minutes for the guided meditation itself and fourty minutes just to come back up after the guided meditation.
We've written about this question a bit differently in our FAQ, so check it out here.
Is guided meditation safe?
Question for today is 'is guided meditation safe?'
Guided meditation is totally safe
. There's no contra indications whatsoever to guided meditations, and there's documented evidence that there are no any ill effects at all on anybody.
I do recommend, if you're taking any kind of medication, that you speak to your doctor before doing any type of meditation.
But generally, there's no any ill effects at all to guided meditations. Because really you're going into a deep, relaxed state whilst you go through the guided journey.
So you really need about an hour to prepaire. And obviously we don't recommend that you drive while listening to guided meditation, or 20 - 30 minutes after that; or if you're operating heavy machienery or doing something like that.
We've written about this question a bit differently in our FAQ, so check it out here.
Is it (guided meditation) safe for children?
A question I get quite a lot is 'is guided meditation safe for children?'
It's totally safe for children and in fact it's really good for children. It's because childrens minds are naturally open to the possibility of changing - there are no old patterns there and there are no old beliefs, so it's realy good for children.
However we don't recommend it for children under the age of five years old without parental guidance. Purely because the cognitive abilities have not been enhanced enough at that age, but each child is different.
You know your child, and if you want to play a guided meditation to them, than that's fine. And on the site you have guided meditations specifically for children. We obviously don't recommend playing the other guided meditations, unless it says it's specifically for children.
So in a word - YES - it's very safe for children.

Can anything negative happen to me?
People often wonder 'Can anything negative happen to me during a guided meditation?'
Nothing negative at all can happen to you during a guided meditation. Really, you are just going into a really relaxed state.
Obviously, we don't recommend doing anything that requires mental stimulation after you've listened to the guided meditation - for maybe 10 or 15 minutes. But other than that nothing elese can happen to you duing a guided meditation.
We've written about this question a bit differently in our FAQ, so check it out here.
Will I be hypnotised?
A question that often comes up is 'Will I be hypnotised?'
We don't use hypnosis in the guided meditations. We use what are called 'induciton techniques' to help you to relax and to calm you down.
But, we don't specifically use hypnosis to get you in a relaxed state.
You will feel relaxed after the first section of each download, but you will not go into a hypnotic state.
There is a chance that you might fall asleep or you might fall into a trance like state - what's called Alpha Level - however this is not classed as hypnosis.
We've written about this question a bit differently in our FAQ, so check it out here.
Can I listen to several albums?
'Can I listen to several albums at once?'
In a word - yes, you can indeed!
It's just like having lots of different beliefs, and changing your beliefs every single day, or changing different aspects of them.
So, you can listen to several at once. However, if I was you, I'd recommend you listent to only two albums at the time, and interchange maybe two beliefs, or two mindsets, or two habbits every month.
You're going to change 24 beliefs, habbits or mindsets over the course of a year. That is more than enough to effectively change your whole life.
Even though my recommendation is that you should not listen to more than two albums at the same time, but you find that you might be different and you got the time to listen to more than that.
